What to wear for a cocktail party
Cocktail parties offer a chance to meet up with friends, acquaintances, with potential or current business partners.
Take the attitude and dressed appropriately for this occasion.
If you do not know how formal the party is, you can ask a friend who goes and asks him how it is going to dress. Use this as a landmark.
Further you can find some advises that only will help you look more appropriate to evening:
- Take into consideration how the invitation is sent to you. If the invitation is done via telephone or the mail, then chances are that the party will be casual. If you receive a formal invitation, especially if the event is a charity, consider that you have to look perfect.
- Take into consideration the season. If the event takes place in summer or spring, think about light material and bright color. For the cold season, choose the dark colors and “heavy” cloths.
- For a formal cocktail party, after work, is preferably a business-casual dress code. A jacket with a pair of khaki trousers and a shirt opened at the neck, or a pair of black jeans with a sport coat and a black rolling. Prefer black leather loafers, or sandals instead of sneakers.
- It’s good to know that the cocktail party in afternoon weekend are less formal than the weekdays, evening. For a formal party, held in the afternoon, opt for a business casual outfit or for a costume if party it is evening. If the party is less formal, opt for a casual outfit for the afternoon and wear business-casual clothes evening.
